Hello!
Welcome to the Justice for Deaf Victims National
Coalition (JDVNC) website.
This website is under construction. It
will likely be a living, growing entity for some time.
I do want to
take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about JDVNC, what (and who)
we are and what our purpose is.
The Justice for Deaf Victims
National Coalition is an emerging entity comprised of member programs
around the United States who provide direct services to Deaf, hard of
hearing, and Deaf-Blind (hereafter referred to as Deaf) victims of
domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Those services may
include (but are not limited to): medical advocacy, legal advocacy,
support groups, counseling, systems advocacy, community education, sexual
violence prevention education, and parenting classes.
Currently
there are fewer than 20 programs nationwide that provide services to this
often overlooked population of victims. JDVNC will provide support for the
existing (and emerging) programs to assist them in increasing their
capacity and stability. It is our hope that as the number of programs
continues to grow, JDVNC will grow along with them... and help provide the
resources they need to succeed in their mission to end violence in the
Deaf community.
This will, of course, take time... and commitment!
Thankfully, commitment is plentiful within this group of talented,
passionate individuals.
Again, welcome to our new website, and I
look forward to sharing more with you as it grows. Please feel free to
contact me at justicedeafvictims@gmail.com
if you have any questions or would like more
information.
